Remember this chickie-poo? Louise? Well, I guess we named "her" wrong, it should be Louis. That's right, she's a he, a ROOSTER...and a nasty one at that.
We've noticed that Louise bossed the other chickens around, chased them, and generally harassed them. Louise also isn't afraid of me, she would glare right at me whenever I went in the pen. Yesterday my mom and I sat watching the chickens for 15 minutes and there is no doubt in either of our minds, that Louise is a rooster.
We raised chickens when I was growing up, we had our fair share of nasty roosters that would chase you and peck at the back of your legs. I don't want a rooster!
I'm sending the company that we bought the chickens from a very nice email requesting an exchange for a laying hen, or at the very least a credit that would equivocate a laying hen (after all we've fed this thing for the past 2 months). If they don't want Louis back then he'll make a nice sunday dinner.
UPDATE
The company says that our rooster falls within their margin of error, thus they will not give us a credit or exchange. Oh well...we tried....now to decide what to do with Louis.
