Goodbye Sweet Google Reader

It’s been over a month now, since Google Reader has gone. I’ve not been pleased. In all honesty, I’ve barely visited any blogs, and those I have visited have only been via Facebook and Instagram. I didn’t realize just how heavily I relied on Google Reader for keeping me updated on blogs.

I had, however, set myself up in both Feedly and TheOldReader before Google Reader disappeared. It took a bit of bravery though, for me to delve into them and figure out which one I prefer. Right now I’m getting used to Feedly, particularly since TheOldReader bit the dust and couldn’t hack the load of traffic they were getting. I believe Feedly is the GoogleChrome preferred reader, since it shows up automatically as a background app.

All of these changes though have really got me thinking about how I, and others, keep tabs on the numerous different blogs and websites that we visit. So many people were at a loss as to what to do with Google Reader gone. I know a lot more people read blogs via their mobile devices and phones, which are very rarely comment friendly.

So I decided something. While I can’t bring back Google Reader {believe me I tried} and I can’t heartily recommend a way for people to keep in touch with their favorite bloggers. I CAN give you a few ways to keep in touch with me, at Life in the White House, and suggest you look into similar things with other blogs and websites.
